The British Royal Mint Gold Standard Coin was first designed in 2016 to mark 200 years since the introduction of the gold standard, tying the value of the British pound to that of gold.
The 2022 Gold Standard coin features the work of Royal Mint graphic designer Dominique Evans on its reverse and Jody Clark’s official portrait of Her Majesty The Queen on the obverse.
The Royal Mint has been working with, storing, and striking gold for hundreds and hundreds of years. The road to Britain’s official adoption of a gold standard stretches deep into that history.
